It is often said "If a job's worth doing, it's too hard", but for Prakash Subramanium, Assistant Project Manager at 24/7Customer this is the impetus. He loves the hard work that goes into forging his destined career path. Commitment and dedication have driven him up the growth ladder.
According to him, 24/7 Customer gifted to him his life long dream to be in Project Management. An Economics graduate, Subramanium started his career as an export analyst for the sales and marketing team of an export house. The BPO buzz caught him and he joined 24/7 Customer in 2003 as an agent. Success comes fast to those who are driven, well Subramanium's single minded ambition got him the job role he was after since the day of his joining.
In the next three years, Subramanium saw a growth in his career that he had only dreamed of. Within a year of his joining, his hard work was rewarded by a promotion to become the Team Lead in 2004. The trend began within a week of his joining as an agent, when he was promoted to become the level two technician. He worked as a senior technician till 2004 and then was moved to the software support process. He got a horizontal shift to hardware support, which completed his circle of experience in the overall support process.
Subramanium explains that due to his rapid growth he has been able to work in different transitional programs, in audits and handled various client interactions. Breakthrough happened when he got an opportunity to appear for an interview for the project management team. He says, "I gave an interview for assistant project manager in an internal job posting program. And here I am working as one. The role I am in and the amount of exposure that I get in my work is quite interesting and challenging too."
When asked what keeps him going he quickly answers, "There are lots of opportunities in my career stream that gives me a push. And it is not just in operations, if you have an aptitude to perform well in different programs there is always an option for that as well."
He views this industry as "a dynamic industry where no one-day is the same.” That drives him. Subramanium thrives on the day-to-day challenges especially in handling customer issues that come up. "To meet the deadlines and to provide the right kind of data to the client at the right time. Be right the first time and avoid delay. To be able to deliver the best quality in shortest timeframe is the biggest challenge. You need lot of commitment to your work to overcome that," he adds. He has the support of the trainers and domain experts within the company who guide him.
For Subramanium, the transparency and the work culture at 24/7 Customer have also been responsible in motivating him to perform and give his best. When he is not busy working to the hilt, this young 24 year old Chennai guy loves reading and haunts libraries during weekends. He adds, "I love music especially Carnatic music, classic rock, Elvis, Eagles and old Hindi songs." Whenever he has the time he tries to spend some time with an NGO for HIV positive children and motivates them to look forward in life.
