Serco Launches New Delivery Centre In Baroda

Serco Global Services, the BPO division of Serco, a leading FTSE 100 international services company today announced the launch of a new delivery centre at, Kankavati Atrium in Baroda. The centre will have an initial capacity of 300 seats, employing over 500 staff in direct white collared jobs and is expected to additionally generate two to three times indirect employment. This facility is slated to double the capacity in the next 6-9 months. The centre which went live today will offer services to clients in the telecommunications, utilities and banking industries.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Bhupender Singh, CEO of AMEAA region, remarked, “We are already present in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and continue to augment our footprint in the West. The introduction of a centre in Baroda is in line with our strategy of growing in non- metro locations, thereby creating a balanced development of the economy by generating employment closer to the source of talent pool.”
Serco has significant expertise in launching and ramping up operations in Tier II and Tier III cities in the country. It has recently expanded its domestic footprint in Dehradun, Madhyamgram, Jangipur, Karnal, Agra, Patna and Lucknow. These centres are expected to stem migration and present opportunities for candidates to meet their career objectives closer to their hometowns.
Serco enjoys a predominant position in the domestic Indian market employing over 30,000 people and currently has client relationships with leading multinational companies across telecom, banking, insurance, consumer durables, retail, media, aviation & public sectors. According to NASSCOM, the domestic IT-BPO market is expected to grow 17 per cent to reach Rs 91,800 crore in FY2012. The domestic BPO market is expected to reach Rs 14,900 crore, driven by demand from voice-based services (local languages) and increased adoption by both traditional and emerging verticals, including the government.
Call centres, BFSI (banking, financial services and accounting) and telecom will provide a $43-47 billion addressable opportunity for the Indian IT-BPO sector in the domestic market till 2020, according to Nasscom Perspective 2020, a study conducted by Nasscom and McKinsey.
